Terms of Service
The agreement
between us.
The deal you're signing up for, written in plain English. Account, billing, acceptable use, data ownership, and how either side can walk away.
Alpha-draft terms
This page describes the actual agreement during Pearsight’s alpha, written in plain English. It has not yet been reviewed by counsel. A lawyer-reviewed version will replace this page before paid launch.
Section 1
The agreement
By signing up for Pearsight you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service. We may update these terms — when we do, we'll email registered account holders and post the change on this page with a revised date.
Section 2
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for any activity that happens under your account. If you invite a caregiver, they'll create their own account; your account is not shared.
You must be at least 18 years old to create a parent account. Student devices paired through the Pearsight handoff flow do not require their own accounts and are operated under the parent account.
Section 3
Subscription and billing
Pearsight costs $4 a month for the family and up to 2 kids, plus $1 a month per additional kid. A free trial of 30 days begins when you create an account; no payment method is required to start.
After the trial, continued use requires an active payment method on file. Subscriptions auto-renew until you cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — no refunds for partial months, but you keep access until the period ends.
Payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. By subscribing, you authorize Paddle to charge your selected payment method on the schedule above.
Section 4
Acceptable use
Don't use Pearsight to impersonate someone else's family, to access a Canvas account that isn't yours or your kid's, to attempt to break the security of the service, or to violate any law.
Don't share student data you don't have the right to share. The Canvas access token you connect to Pearsight must be one you're authorized to use as a parent or caregiver under your school's policies.
Section 5
Data ownership
Your family's data is yours. Pearsight stores and renders it on your behalf. You can export it as JSON at any time, and you can delete it by deleting your account.
By using the service you grant Pearsight a limited license to store, process, and render your data solely for the purpose of providing the dashboard to you and the caregivers and student devices you authorize.
Section 6
Termination
You can cancel and delete your account at any time from account settings. Cancellation stops billing at the end of the current period; deletion removes your data within thirty days from active systems and within ninety days from backups.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms (especially the acceptable-use section) or that pose a security risk to the service. We'll give notice when possible and reasonable.
Section 7
Warranties and disclaimers
Pearsight is provided as-is. We work hard to keep the service running smoothly and to render Canvas data faithfully, but we don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific Canvas integration will continue to work indefinitely — Canvas itself can change its APIs.
Pearsight is not a substitute for direct communication with your kid's school. Grades and assignment information reflect what Canvas surfaces; the school's gradebook is the official record.
Section 8
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pearsight's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months preceding the claim.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including lost grades, missed assignments, or academic outcomes — arising from your use of the service.
