Pearsight came out of real households.

We didn't sketch Pearsight in a room. We built it alongside families running middle school, high school, multi-kid chaos, summer school, and the in-betweens. Here's the short version of what they taught us.

Parents don’t want more data. They want less. The first version of Pearsight had charts, trend lines, grade-prediction graphs — the things you’d build if you thought of school as a quantified-self problem. Every family we tested with said the same thing in different words: I just want to know what’s due tonight. The graphs are gone.

The kid view matters more than we thought. We built it almost as a courtesy — if the parent has a dashboard, the kid should have something too. It turned out to be the surface families used most often, because the kid is the one sitting down to do work, the parent is the one checking in for five minutes. Pearsight slowly rebuilt the student side as a first-class product.

Multi-caregiver is the default, not the edge case.Co-parents, grandparents, step-parents, tutors — almost every household we observed had at least two adults involved with school. The single-parent-account model is a software fiction most families have to work around. So we made caregiver invites free and unlimited, and gave them roles that match how households actually distribute responsibility.

The calmer the surface, the more it gets used.Every time we added a feature, we watched it get ignored. Every time we removed one, the dashboard got opened more. Pearsight is an opinionated product because the families it serves don’t want options — they want the right thing already chosen for them. We try to live up to that.

Pearsight is purchased by parents on behalf of their K-12 children. The paying parent (18+) creates the family account, which constitutes verifiable parental consent under COPPA for any child under 13 the parent enrolls. Kids do not sign up directly — their access is parent-paired only. See Privacy and Security for our full data-handling stance, including FERPA-aligned controls.
