About · Family & caregivers

Three roles, one dashboard.

Every caregiver sees the same data. What differs is who can change settings, who can invite or remove other caregivers, and who owns billing. Three roles cover almost every family.

The primary caregiver is the parent who created the account. They own billing, can add or remove kids, and can invite or remove other caregivers. There’s exactly one primary per family; you can transfer the role to someone else if needed.

Co-parents have full read/write access to every kid’s dashboard but can’t change billing or remove other caregivers. They can mark assignments, post comments, verify, and follow up — the same actions as the primary parent. Most second parents land here.

Observers see the dashboard but can’t make status changes or post comments. Grandparents who just want to know how the school year is going, an extended-family tutor who should see the workload but not actively manage it.

Key facts

  • Primary: billing + caregiver management. One per family.
  • Co-parent: full read/write to the dashboard. No caregiver-admin.
  • Observer: read-only.
  • Role per caregiver per kid — finer-grained when needed.

Pearsight is a direct-to-consumer parent dashboard purchased by parents on behalf of their K-12 children. Although we may integrate as an institutional vendor or store a school-wide database it is only in those cases that we would require a district DPA (Data Privacy Agreement). Individual parents utilize their own FERPA-guaranteed right of access to authenticate their personal Canvas observer account. We do not sell, track, or re-disclose student data. The paying parent (18+) creates the family account, which constitutes verifiable parental consent under COPPA. Children do not sign up directly — their access is parent guided. Pearsight aligns with all global privacy standards and children protection standards, including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, PECR, PIPEDA, SOPIPA, COPPA, and FERPA. See Privacy and Security for our full data-handling stance.
