The school year, not just the week.
Grades and assignments live inside terms — quarters, semesters, trimesters, summer. Pearsight scopes its collections and grade summaries to the term you're actually in, so an `In Progress` count doesn't drag last spring's chaos along with it.
During setup you tell Pearsight your school’s grading calendar — most families pick quarters or semesters, summer-school families get a third term. The dashboard then knows when one term ends and another begins, and shifts the “this term” scope automatically.
That scope quietly shapes a lot. The Missing collection only counts current-term missing assignments, not the four from Q1 that never got resolved. Grade letters in the dashboard summary reflect the current term’s grade book, not a cumulative GPA. Calendar view dims past-term assignments so they don’t crowd this week.
You can edit your terms any time without losing data. Late June, a family that didn’t set up summer school can add a summer term and the dashboard immediately starts treating June & July classes as their own scope. Add quarters mid-year, swap to semesters next fall — Pearsight follows.

- Collections + grade summaries scope to the current term.
